Rescue aliens in Area 51

Storm Area 51: September 20th 2019 is a simulation video game by developer ProjectorGames. This third-person action game is inspired by the viral Facebook event Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us. Endorsed by YouTuber Keemstar, the game has players raiding Area 51 to rescue all the captive aliens inside.

In Storm Area 51: September 20th 2019, you play as one of the millions of people who signed up to raid the controversial government facility. You can fight through security or use stealth to reach the captive aliens and escort them to their mothership.

Riddled with problems

Storm Area 51: September 20th 2019’s gameplay is mostly based on memes relating to the viral Facebook event. Players can Naruto run to move faster and evade bullets. There are five stages to the raid, which include breaking into the facility, rescuing the aliens, escorting them to their UFO mothership, and piloting the UFO. It’s also possible to visit the aliens’ home planet via their mothership.

Stealth and combat mechanics are also in the game, but they are poorly implemented. You will spend most of your time running around the facility searching for aliens. Ally and enemy AI are all terrible as they just walk around mindlessly across the map. Facility guards are so dysfunctional that they only detect you when you’re in point-blank range. All of these are made worse by the awful animations.

The game’s problems are obvious the moment you fire it up. The controls are ridiculously wonky and the camera behaved erratically. You can notice plenty of programming problems everywhere, ranging from textures disappearing or the mere inability to open the ESC menu. There are some elements that made it funny, such as some voice lines and meme references, but these are overshadowed by all of its issues.

Is it worth playing?

Storm Area 51: September 20th 2019 feels like it’s made just to profit off the popularity of the viral Facebook event. It’s obvious how little effort was put into developing the game, given its problems. Stay away from this game unless you want to play it ironically. If you really want a game where you can raid a government facility, you’re better off playing something like Destroy All Humans!
